Since there is no real complete feed available on the market, it is highly recommended to compliment the feed of sport horses in order to achieve optimum performance. The feed manufacturers usually indicate the added vitamins. All the vitamins of TWYDIL® work in continuous synergy with each other. Note that when certain vitamins are unstable, their level rapidly decreases with time. TWYDIL®, however, fully guarantees their contents until the expiration date. In most complete feeds, the diversification of the nutrient sources is poor and sometimes nonexistent. In order to improve the bioavailability, we diversify our nutrient sources. For all these reasons, TWYDIL® proposes supplementation programs that are adapted to the different types of horses and the daily supply can be adjusted depending on the selected feed.

Out of the hundreds of equine nutrition and supplement companies world-wide, very few, if any, have gone to such great lengths to prove their products safety and beneficial value on a scientific level as TWYDIL® has. TWYDIL® is based on the knowledge of multiple scientific publications which demonstrated that on the one hand the TWYDIL® range is adequate and exactly fulfills the horses’ needs and on the other hand they bring added advantages such as:

  • Health
  • Recuperation
  • Well-being
  • Performance

When considering the quality/price ratio, TWYDIL® products are not more expensive. For each product,TWYDIL® guarantees the quality as well as the amount of the active substances to obtain the desired effects and this at an unbeatable daily cost. All TWYDIL® products are also certified free from prohibited substances by an official and independent laboratory.

Taking into account that TWYDIL® products are scientifically based, highly bio-available and that their efficacy is proven, after an objective price comparison, it is easy to realize that, pound for pound, TWYDIL® competitors are not cheaper and that TWYDIL® is the best possible choice.

First of all, each TWYDIL® product and each batch of production are officially tested and certified by the LCH (Laboratoire des Courses Hippiques). On top of that, TWYDIL® does not use any of the prohibited substances mentioned in the open list of “clean sport FEI.”

REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE
During the manufacturing process, samples are taken at different stages of the production and mixed, following a precise method, to obtain a final sample as representative as possible of the whole batch.

THE LCH SEARCHES FOR CONTAMINANTS IN THE FINAL PRODUCT
The LCH ensures that the final product is free of all the 9 natural contaminants (morphine, atropine, butofenine, caffeine, theophylline, theobromine, scopolamine methylbufotenine, dimethyltriptamine).

A HORSE FED WITH AN OVERAGE OF THE FINAL PRODUCT
The Laboratory of Hormonology in Marloie, Belgium, directed by Dr Philippe Delahaut, follows a strict and precise protocol of quality control experiment (specific for each product). Under this protocol, the Laboratory gives a horse 3 times the normal daily supply of the product for a minimum of 3 days. Samples of urine and blood are taken and sent to the LCH.

THE LCH ANALYZES THE BLOOD AND THE URINE OF THAT HORSE
The LCH submits the blood and urine to a complete screening for all the prohibited substances (stimulants, analgesics, narcotics, anabolic steroids, beta-blockers, diuretics and not just the likely contaminants).

THE LCH ESTABLISHES A TRIPLE ANTI-DOPING CONTROL CERTIFICATE

An examination of the vitamin contents of the best hay and oats show that the diet contains insufficient amounts of 9 of the 14 vitamins to achieve optimal results. A traditional feed alone is not able to guarantee a sufficient supply of all vitamins in order to maintain a high level of performance in the long run.

This is not a question of the adequate quantity of each vitamin but more of the balance between bio-molecules. If the supply of even one vitamin is insufficient, the whole balance will be affected and badly influence the performance. For all these reasons, our advice is to provide a daily supply of all 14 vitamins on top of the vitamins coming from the feed.

This means that what is written on the label is what you get.

This may seem obvious but with respect to the vitamins it is exceptional due to many factors (temperature, pH, humidity, etc.) which result in instability. That is why many clients have chosen the TWYDIL® range of products after having made comparative analysis.

  • purchase of best quality ingredients
  • special manufacturing methods avoiding high temperatures
  • conditioning under environmental control and airtight, watertight and light-tight packaging
  • strict warehousing conditions (temperature, hygrometry conditions, etc.)
  • overdoses proportional to the instability of the vitamins
  • high frequency of production to minimize stocking period before utilization
  • none of the TWYDIL® products are released before having received the confirmation of its conformity to specification

No, that is wrong. A vitamin is not just a vitamin. The price of an individual vitamin may vary tenfold according to its specification and origin and the individual unit purchase price of a vitamin may vary from $1 to $180. TWYDIL® purchases and will always purchase only the best quality vitamins and will never leave out certain vitamins necessary to the horse because of the high price of purchasing the best quality.

After 50+ years of experience, TWYDIL® is fully aware that the level of performance of a horse depends on many different parameters and that the vitamin and mineral supplementation is only one link in the chain. This link may be an essential factor to top performance but TWYDIL® never claims that their products are the direct influence on the final result.

On the other hand, after considering thousands of analyses, TWYDIL® is convinced that following a well adapted TWYDIL® program corresponding to the discipline will place the horse in an ideal physiological situation. These programs will improve the faculties of recuperation after heavy work and allow a more intensive training, positively influencing the performance.

Besides that, TWYDIL® has a whole range of products which can be used in a one-time way to fight specific troubles or for a specific objective.

my HORSE HEALTH® can customize programs to fit the needs of your equine athlete. Such programs are designed to improve overall body condition and assist in preparation before competition or reproduction, also taking into account the breed and the training level of the horse and the environment.

  • Vitamin stability: at the moment the product is supplied, the vitamin contents could be much lower than declared (due to cheap quality, bad mixing procedures, inadequate stocking, etc). You have to be sure of the care taken by your provider.
  • Quality: Ideally, a formula must contain all the vitamins, including the most expensive ones such as biotin, choline or folic acid.
  • Price: the daily cost of the appropriate supply is, of course, an essential argument.
  • Anti-doping control: The existence of an official anti-doping certificate established by an independent laboratory is the best protection.

There are two reasons:

  1. The horse will receive the exact daily requirement
  2. The quality of the sachets guarantees an optimal stability of the active micronutrients for a long period

This solution could appear expensive but in reality it is a cost effective solution because your horse will have the adequate daily supply. No waste.

There are both advantages and disadvantages to giving vitamins by injection. This method is normally reserved for animals suffering severe hypovitaminosis or when there has been a toxic interaction which can be resolved by vitamins. Most vitamin injections are designed to be given by the intra-muscular route; rarely are they given intravenously.

The main advantages are that injected vitamins bypass the digestion/absorption route and are 100 % effective. They produce a sudden large surge in the blood stream which may have pharmaco-dynamic effects. The bypassing of the alimentary canal is not particularly important for the water soluble vitamins which tend to be 100 % absorbed anyway. It is much more relevant for the fat soluble vitamins for which the rate of absorption is probably only 25%. However, there are also disadvantages and the risks can far outweigh the advantages.

The greatest problem of all is sensitization – either to the vitamin substance or to an adjuvant. For example, several companies used to have a combined vitamin A, D and E injection. They had to deal with several cases of death in horses due to an anaphylactic shock brought on by sensitization to one of the ingredients, usually the emulsifier used to ensure that the fat soluble vitamins could be carried in suspension in the blood plasma.

Another difficulty – particularly of single vitamin injections – is that they are given in sufficiently large quantities to unbalance the vitamin/hormone/enzyme system leading to inefficiencies of the other vitamins. The immediate plasma surge falls away fairly rapidly with a rate of decay varying in accordance with the vitamins. This is generally because a homeostatic mechanism in the liver and the kidneys removes excess levels and excretes them as rapidly as possible. Within 24 to 48 hours, the blood contents will almost be back to where they were before the injection unless steps are taken to renew the injection on a daily basis.

The idea of sticking needles in horses every day, particularly if there is an on-going risk of sensitization and anaphylactic shock is not conducive. Equally, there is always a risk of septic reactions. Except in case of absolute necessity, my HORSE HEALTH® generally advises against injectable vitamins. As an example, it would be necessary to inject more than 15 times per day in order to reach 75 g of some TWYDIL® products, bioavailable ingredients given orally without risk.
